Governor's Volunteer Award

We are pleased to announce that one of our very own Americorps* VISTA Members Francesca Pribble has won the prestigious Governor's Awards for Outstanding Volunteer Service which celebrates the extraordinary volunteer efforts of Kentuckians all across the commonwealth. The award recognizes an individual who has met a community need in an innovative and effective manner. The winner has to have demonstrated exceptional ability and have made a great impact through changed lives and/or community conditions as a result of service efforts.

Everyone at the Americana Community Center knows how hard Francesca works at advertising volunteer opportunities in schools, businesses, and online. She interviews, places and trains volunteers. She reviews work done by volunteers, evaluates effectiveness & plans recognition events. As a result, ACC gets exceptional people who give their time, talent, enthusiasm and support to help us serve the unmet needs of the parents and children of ACC while asking nothing in return but the satisfaction of helping. The award will be presented in the Governor’s mansion on May 8th at 2:00 PM. Congratulations Francesca!

Americana Community Center has been pleased to host year-long Americorps* VISTA members since 2007, which has helped build capacity for our programming.  Serving in 2007-08 were Amanda Steinhauer and Sarah Bergstrand, and current members are Francesca Pribble and Carey McCoy.  We would like to thank all VISTAs for their work and dedication to ACC.
